Preparing your student for coming to school

Keeping students from becoming ill or transmitting the virus to other students requires a partnership between the school community, families, and guardians. We all need to commit to doing our best to make sure our students are protected as much as possible. Our unified efforts will prevent COVID-19 from spreading to students, your families, and your child's classmates. Together we can keep each other safe.

    Checklist for Parents/Caregivers

✓ Before each student leaves home for school each day, parents should conduct a health screening.

✓ If your student has a specific medical condition that makes them more at risk to COVID-19, contact the school and ask about alternative learning.

✓ Monitor any symptoms from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Students with the following symptoms may have COVID-19 and should not go to school:

    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

    • Fatigue

    • Muscle or body aches

    School waiver reopening information

The District has submitted and received feedback on a waiver to reopen the school starting Monday, October 19, 2020.  All indications still point to us being able to open with that timeline.

Before opening, all staff, students, and parents need to be made aware of the conditions and practices that we have to put in place in order to open and operate safely. Individual ParentSquare/email messages have been sent to discuss parts of our reopening plan. Please use the links below to access those posts.

    Before and After School Daycare

Because we are required to maintain cohorts of students and not have them mix within the course of their school day, unfortunately, Pleasant Valley School will not be able to offer either before school or after school daycare for the 2020-2021 school year.

    Pleasant Valley School and District

Pleasant Valley School, nestled in the beautiful vineyard covered hills of San Miguel has been creating successful learners and members of the community since 1884.  Students in kindergarten through sixth grade attend this wonderful school, and despite its small size, the school still provides the equivalent 21st Century education that is available in the much larger districts.

The school community prides itself on its long-standing tradition of strong parent and community involvement. Yearly events, such as the Harvest Festival, Color Run, and Thanksgiving Feast add to the sense of community involvement in the school.

The faculty and staff of PVS are highly qualified, caring professionals who promote a warm, safe, and family-oriented atmosphere.  They value pride in education and life-long learning. The small class sizes and high staff to student ratios mean that students can receive individual help for their educational and other needs. One-to-one technology and a dedicated science STEM lab are just two of the great offerings that this tiny but mighty school has to offer.

Pleasant Valley School is a little out of the way but not too hard to find. It's just a short 15-minute drive NE of Paso Robles. Stop by and check us out!

From Highway 101 and CA 46E (approximately 8.9 miles):

    1. Take CA 46 E (toward Fresno/Bakersfield for 4.8 miles.

    2. Turn left on Jardine Road, and follow for one mile.

    3. After crossing the bridge, keep left as Jardine Road becomes Estrella Road after the bridge.

    4. At the stop sign, continue straight onto Ranchita Canyon Road. The school is immediately on your right at 2025 Ranchita Canyon Road, San Miguel, CA 93451.

Be careful using GPS directions to find the school. Some systems will misdirect you and you may end up miles away in Monterey County.
