At this time, there is no plan to change to date of the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We are scheduled to begin school on Thursday, August 20, 2020.

We are convening a School Reopening Workgroup to do contingency planning and anticipate various potential scenarios for next school year.  The work of that committee will be reported out periodically to the staff, community, and School Board.

    Change in Board Meeting Date

Due to the Shelter in Place order, the California Department of Education has moved the due date for the districts' Local Control and Assessment Plan (LCAP) to December. As a result, the regularly scheduled board meeting planned for Wednesday, June 24, 2020.  That meeting does not need to take place.

Instead, we will have a regular board meeting to discuss the draft of the Pleasant Valley School Reopening Plan for the 2020-2021 school year.

This meeting will take place Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 6 PM. A link to this Zoom meeting will be made available the week before the meeting.

    Pleasant Valley School and District

Pleasant Valley School, nestled in the beautiful vineyard covered hills of San Miguel has been creating successful learners and members of the community since 1884.  Students in kindergarten through sixth grade attend this wonderful school, and despite its small size, the school still provides the equivalent 21st Century education that is available in the much larger districts.

The school community prides itself on its long-standing tradition of strong parent and community involvement. Yearly events, such as the Harvest Festival, Color Run, and Thanksgiving Feast add to the sense of community involvement in the school.

The faculty and staff of PVS are highly qualified, caring professionals who promote a warm, safe, and family-oriented atmosphere.  They value pride in education and life-long learning. The small class sizes and high staff to student ratios mean that students can receive individual help for their educational and other needs. One-to-one technology and a dedicated science STEM lab are just two of the great offerings that this tiny but mighty school has to offer.

Pleasant Valley School is a little out of the way but not too hard to find. It's just a short 15-minute drive NE of Paso Robles. Stop by and check us out!

From Highway 101 and CA 46E (approximately 8.9 miles):
