School supplies for the 2021-2022 school year

It's that time of the year again!

Due to continued restrictions as a result of the COVID pandemic, we are still required to ensure that students do not share supplies in the classroom.  Most of what they need is provided, however, students may want their own personal supplies as well.  Below are recommended supply lists for each grade.

    First-grade Supply List

    Second-grade Supply List

    Third and Fourth-grade Supply List

    Independent Study

Assembly Bill 130 (AB 1330), which was passed late last month, requires all districts, for the 2021/22 school year, to offer independent study to meet the educational needs of students. A waiver of this new requirement is available to qualifying districts.

Notification of the independent study option must take place before the start of the school year.

On July29, 2021, parents of Pleasant Valley students were sent both a ParentSquare post and a USPS mailed letter with the notification.  A copy of that notification can be found here.

Parent Involvement - Title i information

The teachers and staff of Pleasant Valley Joint Union Elementary School District know that parents are a student’s first and best teacher. Parents, schools, families, and communities working together, however, can create meaningful partnerships that ultimately lead to significant gains across the board in student achievement.

The goal of any school parent involvement program is to increase student achievement by engaging and empowering parents, and other stakeholders, to become actively involved in their children’s education across all grade levels.

At Pleasant Valley, there are many opportunities for parents and staff to work together to improve the education of our students.

P.A.S.E., our school's PTO is one way you can get involved. Please look for their monthly messages about their upcoming meetings.

Below are the district policies around parent involvement.

    Pleasant Valley School and District

Pleasant Valley School, nestled in the beautiful vineyard covered hills of San Miguel has been creating successful learners and members of the community since 1884.  Students in kindergarten through sixth grade attend this wonderful school, and despite its small size, the school still provides the equivalent 21st Century education that is available in the much larger districts.

The school community prides itself on its long-standing tradition of strong parent and community involvement. Yearly events, such as the Harvest Festival, Color Run, and Thanksgiving Feast add to the sense of community involvement in the school.

The faculty and staff of PVS are highly qualified, caring professionals who promote a warm, safe, and family-oriented atmosphere.  They value pride in education and life-long learning. The small class sizes and high staff to student ratios mean that students can receive individual help for their educational and other needs. One-to-one technology and a dedicated science STEM lab are just two of the great offerings that this tiny but mighty school has to offer.

Pleasant Valley School is a little out of the way but not too hard to find. It's just a short 15-minute drive NE of Paso Robles. Stop by and check us out!

From Highway 101 and CA 46E (approximately 8.9 miles):

    1. Take CA 46 E (toward Fresno/Bakersfield for 4.8 miles.

    2. Turn left on Jardine Road, and follow for one mile.

    3. After crossing the bridge, keep left as Jardine Road becomes Estrella Road after the bridge.
